Magazine films

The Magazine Films were made by turning magazines into a film strips and feeding them through a projector. Elle, Guns and Ammo, Thrasher, People magazines were scanned, each page was cut into strips, connected end to end, and run in sequence. What you see is a deconstructed, kaleidoscopic version of the magazine which compresses a three-dimensional object of layered two-dimensional pieces of paper, into something that enters fourth-dimensional space. Even at 1/24th of a second, a curve of letter is recognized as the Coco Chanel logo, a skateboard magazine becomes a collage of sun, concrete, and sneakers, and a gun magazine teases out a fetish for burnished steel. these are all excerpts
